Call it the biggest win of the season for the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons Tuesday night as they upended the defending 2nd Region volleyball champions in an epic five-set match on post, pulling off the ‘reverse’ sweep to get the win over Heritage Christian.
Early on, it looked as if it were going to be business as usual for the Lady Warriors. Heritage won the first set 25-22 and claimed the second 25-18 to go up two sets to none and put the Lady Falcons with their backs against the wall.
But back came the Lady Falcons. Fort Campbell took the third set 25-17 and followed that up with a 25-19 win in the fourth set, putting things in place for the all-deciding 5th set.
The fifth set went down to the wire and beyond as Fort Campbell took a tough 16-14 win in the fifth to claim a three-set to two win for the match.
Bralee Fowler led HCA with 13 kills, and Hadlee Hayes finished with 10. Fowler also had four service aces.
The win was Fort Campbell’s first over Heritage Christian since HCA became a KHSAA member school. It was also Fort Campbell’s first victory when dropping the first two sets in a decade.
Fort Campbell (9-2) avenges an earlier 4-set loss to the Lady Warrirors this season with their 4th straight win. The Lady Falcons head to West Creek Wednesday night.
