Storm Golfers Finish in 7th Place at Region (w/PHOTOS)

The Hopkins County Central Storm golf team finished in seventh place at Tuesday’s Region 2 Golf Tournament at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.

Ashton Blades missed qualifying for the state first round by a single shot after shooting a 10-over-par 81 to finish tied for 16th place. His scorecard showed 12 pars on the afternoon.

Ace Wilson shot a 13 over par 84 to finish tied for 30th place, while Lucas Rambo shot a 14 over par 85 to finish tied for 38th place.

Alex Crook tied for 50th place with a 19-over-par 90, and Jax Miller shot a 95 to finish in a 63rd-place tie.

Hopkins County Central finished 8 shots behind sixth-place University Heights Academy, and 4 shots ahead of 8th-place Apollo.

Owensboro Catholic won the region championship with a team score of 311, which was five shots better than second-place Henderson County. Both teams will advance to next week’s KHSAA state first round at the Calvert City Country Club.

Muhlenberg County’s Cy Tudor and Owensboro Catholic’s Vince Hayden tied for top honors with a 3-over-par 74, with Tudor taking the individual title on the second playoff hole. Friday’s weather at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club was in stark contrast to Monday’s girls’ tournament at Henderson County, which was delayed five hours due to weather.

Tuesday featured mild temperatures and no rain.
