The Hopkinsville Tigers and the UHA Blazers soccer teams had to have the second half of their game postponed from Tuesday night after lightning and rain cut the game short. Wednesday evening they were able to finish their game, and it saw the Tigers coming out with a 1-0 victory.
Neither team was able to break through for the first 20 minutes of the full second half that the team played, but Hopkinsville’s Jason Macario was able to put one into the back of the net after a header gone wrong by UHA.
The two teams went back and forth for the next 19 minutes of play, but the Tigers were able to keep the Blazers at bay and get the win. This victory gives Hopkinsville the top seed in the district tournament.
They will be looking to continue their win streak in their next game on Saturday, September 27, against Webster County on the road. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
As for the Blazers, they will be hoping that they can snap their losing streak in their next one at home against Henderson County on Thursday, September 25. Their game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
