Hopkins Central Hat Tricks Best Heritage Christian 8-0

A pair of hat tricks helped Hopkins County Central roll past Heritage Christian Academy 8-0 in boys’ soccer action Thursday night in Mortons Gap.

Jude Mitchell had three goals and two assists while Riley Dunlap added three more goals for the Storm, which is now 8-5.

Dunlap scored the first two tallies of the night — in the 5th and 14th minutes — to get Hopkins Central off on the right foot.

Brennan Scott made it 3-0 in the 15th minute before Dunlap struck again in the 21st to complete his hat trick.

Mitchell found the net in the 32nd and 39th minutes to extend the margin to 6-0 at halftime.

Mason Gallimore scored in the 58th minute.

Mitchell finished up his hat trick in the 62nd minute, ending the game on the eight-goal mercy rule.

Jak Mitchell had two assists for the Storm.

Seth Pullam, Duane Meade, Carson Scott and Talon Stephens each had one assist.

Hopkins Central dictated play for most of the contest, although Heritage Christian (0-9) did have a handful of scoring opportunities.

William Clevenger made four saves in the Storm net.

Meanwhile, his counterpart at the other end of the field was much busier. Cayden Nowak had 15 saves for the Warriors.

Hopkins Central will play again Saturday morning at Christian County.

HCA will play at University Heights Academy on Monday.
