Helped by a top-five finish from Easton Bourland, the Dawson Springs cross country team took tenth place at Saturday’s Logan County Cougar Run. The event gave Region One teams a chance to run the course that will host the Region Meet next month.

Bourland covered the 3.1-mile course in 16:45, good for third place. He finished 20 seconds behind the race winner, Tristan Coy of Union County, and had the top time of any Class 1A runner by nearly two minutes. For Bourland, it’s his fourth top-three finish of the season.

Freshman Noah Riley came in 15th place with a time of 18:45. It was Riley’s third top 20 finish of the year.

Preston Drennan finished in 76th place with a time of 21:13. Chandler Anderson was 104th in 22:22.

Lucas Duke ran a 24:17 to finish 133rd, and 7th grader Levi Holt was 153rd in 26:07.

Logan Chappell, also a 7th grader, finished in 169th place in 27:55.

As a team, Dawson Springs finished with 276 points, 23 points behind 9th-place University Heights Academy. The Panthers placed third among all Class 1A schools.
