Macy Cotton tied for 40th place at the KHSAA State Golf First Round held on Monday at the Calvert City Country Club.
The Hopkins County Central junior shot an 18-over-par 90 and missed qualifying for the state championship in Bowling Green by five shots.
Cotton began her day on the front nine, where she shot a 47. Her day got better after the turn, where she finished with a 43.
It was the second straight year Cotton qualified for the state first round after qualifying at the regional level.
