Emma Dowell’s storied golf career came to a close on Monday at the KHSAA State First Round at the Calvert City Country Club.
The Trigg County senior shot a round of 93 that included a 45 on the back nine. Her scorecard showed three pars. Dowell missed qualifying for the championship round in Bowling Green by eight shots.
It was Dowell’s third time advancing to the state first round, and Monday saw her score improve by eight shots over last year.
Dowell was the first Trigg County golfer since Madison Chaney in 2013 to play in a state tournament round, with Monday her third appearance in the state first round.
