
In a race that also served as a region preview, the Trigg County Lady Wildcats cross country team finished in fifth place at Saturday’s Logan County Cougar Run in Russellville.
Veyda Grinols captured her fourth consecutive top-10 finish with a clocking of 22:24 over the 3.1-mile course. Her tenth-place finish was the fourth-fastest among Class 2A runners.
Freshman Sophia Quinteros came in 17th place with a time of 23:16 in what was her first top-20 finish of the season.
In her first varsity race, seventh grader Daizi Quinteros was 41st in 25:15, and Luci Quinteros was 42nd in 25:23.
Allayah Hargrove finished in 49th place with a time of 26:05, while Ella Dollison was 68th in 27:49, and Kalin Kingston was 98th in 32:59.
As a team, Trigg County finished in fifth place, 13 points behind fourth-place Webster County and 16 points behind third-place Calloway County.
Those three teams, along with Hopkinsville, are expected to challenge for the region title on the same course that, for some reason, will be run on Friday, October 24, on the same night as a Logan County football game.
Webster County’s Mayci Moore won the race in 20:14.
