Strong Second Half Carries Caldwell’s Girls Past Fort Campbell

Caldwell County’s defense blanked Fort Campbell over the final 40 minutes, allowing the Lady Tigers to pull away for a 6-3 victory Tuesday night at Butler Stadium in Princeton.

It’s the fifth-straight win for Caldwell’s girls, who are now 13-5.

Senior Aliya Towns scored two more goals for the Lady Tigers and also added two assists.

Towns now has 33 goals this season and 65 for her career. That is the sixth-most for a Lady Tiger in a season. Towns is tied for fifth on the all-time goals-scored list.

Mariah Vickery also had two goals for Caldwell against Fort Campbell.

Vickery headed home a corner kick from Nunie Bates in the 52nd minute that gave the Lady Tigers some breathing room at 5-3.

Makenzie French scored her first varsity goal later, with help from Towns, to make it 6-3.

Kiya Sears scored the first goal of the night less than 2 minutes into the contest, with Towns picking up the assist on that one as well. Sears later added an assist on one of Towns’ goals.

Shylee Hinchee had six saves in the Lady Tiger net.

Fort Campbell got two goals from Abigal Allen while A’mari Grimsley had a goal and an assist for the Lady Falcons.

The Lady Falcons are now 6-7.

Caldwell leads the all-time series 24-10.

The Lady Tigers’ 13 wins this season are their most since the 2017 team went 14-10-1. Caldwell’s last district championship also came that year.

Caldwell will conclude the regular season on Thursday by hosting Lyon County as part of a boys and girls doubleheader on Senior Night.
