The Christian County Colonels soccer team was looking for a win in their last game of the regular season on the road on Thursday evening against the Lakers of Calloway County. They were unfortunately not able to do that, as Calloway took the game with an 8-0 mercy rule.
This was the tenth meeting ever between the two teams, and Christian County has only been able to get the best of Calloway once, and it was back in 2009. It had also been a while since the Colonels had a look at the Lakers, because the last time they played was in 2016.
Goalkeeper Preston Gentry was able to make some impressive saves in net over the course of the game, but the Lakers were able to make the most of their second chances and score some goals off of rebounds.
This was the final regular-season game in Christian County Colonels soccer history, as the school will be combining with Hopkinsville High School soon.
