The good news is that Kentucky football often has played Georgia close, including last year’s 13-12 loss in Lexington. However, the common theme is that Georgia still wins and will take a 15-game winning streak over Kentucky into Saturday afternoon’s game in Athens.
“We just try to be who we are,” Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said. “Through the years, we’ve always tried to be very tough and very physical and play the game the right way. They’ve been, certainly, on the right side of the wins and losses. They have a great team. They’ve beat a lot of people and they’ve had a great program for a long time.”
Georgia is coming off a home loss to Alabama but Stoops is still impressed by the Bulldogs.
“Great respect for Kirby (Coach Kirby Smart) and Georgia and what they’ve done,” Stoops said. “It’s a typical Georgia team, very good in every area, very physical, and makes things tough for us, offensively, defensively.”
That defense could again cause UK’s inconsistent offense problems. The Cats have not scored more than two touchdowns in a SEC game under offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan and are 1-9 in SEC games the last two years.
“Really playing at a high level,” Stoops said about Georgia’s defense. “Good at all levels of the defense, disruptive, strong guys up front, linebackers that could run, and very good cover guys.”
Georgia’s pass rush has been suspect but the Cats likely will try to lean on the running game which could help Georgia. Or Georgia’s pass rush could suddenly be devastating like South Carolina’s pass rush was against UK last week.
Stoops knows Georgia’s offense can be potent.
“Offensively, a typical Georgia team, very big, very physical, run the ball extremely well, and a quarterback that operates within that Mike Bobo offense very effectively, and puts a lot of stress on you,” Stoops said. “And I think they have always been talented and very good, but I feel like their receiver positions have even gone up a notch this year, very talented players.”
Georgia ran for 227 yards against Alabama but passed for over 300 yards in a win over Tennessee.

Nobody attend the next home game after we get beat between the hedges by 40. It's the only way to send a message that we aren't going to accept this garbage no more.
Disagree. Only six or seven a year and everyone enjoys pre game spectacle. Also, day game ticket sales will help fund Barnie’s Folly – Stoops ultimate payday.
Up 35-7 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, Smart starts playing his backups. Is he a smart coach trying to give his backups game experience or does he not fear a Kentucky team against his backups? I would say BOTH. The biggest difference in the 2 teams…Georgia has a SMART coach, Kentucky has a STOOPid coach.
