After seeing their 2024 season end with a 2-0 semifinal loss to Logan County in the 13th District tournament, the Todd County Central Lady Rebels got the chance to turn the tables Saturday afternoon in Russellville. And, turn the tables they did.
The Lady Rebels kept their season alive and guaranteed themselves a berth in the 4th Region tournament with a 1-0 win over the Lady Cougars in the semifinals of the 13th District tournament at Russellville High School.
The match was a scoreless battle until around the 70 minute mark when Anna Ellis found the net. The goal was just Ellis’ third of the season, but it was without a doubt her biggest goal of the year.
In addition to Ellis’ goal, Todd County Central got a big afternoon from keeper Katelynn Cortes. The sophomore keeper ended the day with four big saves to help preserve the Lady Rebels’ win.
With the win, the Lady Rebels improve to 9-8-1 and advance to Monday night’s district championship game, where Todd County Central will have to face regional favorite Franklin-Simpson. The Lady Wildcats enter the final at 18-1-0, with their only loss coming to Calloway County in the Kentucky 2A Championships.
Franklin-Simpson has a pair of wins over the Lady Rebels this season, coming by scores of 8-0 and 6-2.
Monday’s championship match is set for 5:30pm at Russellville High School.
