The Christian County Colonels football team went into their Friday evening matchup with South Pittsburg looking for their second straight win. Unfortunately they were not able to get it, as they ran into a Pirates’ offense that was red-hot.

South Pittsburg came out absolutely on fire, as they were able to block a punt by the Colonels and turn it into an easy rushing touchdown. And it kept going like that for most of the game.

Turnovers plagued Christian County, as they had multiple fumbles over the course of the game, basically all of which led to scores by the Pirates. The lone Colonel touchdown came from a tush push that quarterback Tom Johnson into the end zone for his first rushing touchdown of the year.

But that was nowhere near enough, as South Pittsburg absolutely poured it on and got the win with a score of 69-8.

The Colonels will be looking to bounce back in a big way in their next game on Friday, October 10, against the Henderson County Colonels. This will begin district play and kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Stadium of Champions.
