To say that this was the Franklin-Simpson Lady Wildcats’ year in the 13th District might qualify as a bit of an understatement. The Lady Wildcats completed a perfect season in district play by dispatching the Todd County Central Lady Rebels 8-0 in the 13th District championship game Monday night in Russellville.

Franklin-Simpson has gone 8-0 against teams from the 13th District this season and outscored those opponents by a margin of 63-4.

The Lady Wildcats came out Monday night and settled things quickly, allowing the Lady Rebels no opportunities to think about pulling off the upset.

Freshman Kami Steward scored two goals in the first five minutes, including one on a penalty kick to put Franklin-Simpson out to a quick 2-0 lead.

Five minutes later, Kaylee Barrow extended the lead to 3-0 when she took a rebound and then sent a shot into the goal off the Todd Central keeper’s leg.

An own goal at the 21:00 and then a goal from Addy McKinney at 23:00 moved the lead out to 5-0.

Bianca Morales took a rebound on the right side and sent a shot back into the right side of the net to extend the Lady Wildcat lead to 6-0 at the 32:00. That would be the score at the break.

Franklin-Simpson got goals from Lilly Ferguson and MacKenzie Davidson in the first 11:15 of the second half to close out the match.

Franklin-Simpson (19-1-0) and Todd County Central (9-9-1) now both advance to the 4th Region tournament. The tournament draw is set for Friday morning in Bowling Green.

Three Lady Rebels were named to the All 13th District Team, based on regular season play. Those players are Jaidyn Holland, Anna Ellis, and Elizabeth Langley.
