It took a bit for Trigg County to get going in the Girls’ 5th District soccer championship, but once the ball found the back of the net, the Lady Wildcats rolled to an 8-0 win over Crittenden County for their fourth consecutive district title and eighth overall.
The Lady Rockets made it a point to mark Leiah Hite, Trigg County’s all-time leading scorer, throughout the match. Maggie Wolfe responded with a goal from 24 feet out just a minute into the match. She added a second goal in the 15th minute off a pass from Landie Hite.
Trigg County outshot Crittenden 10-1 in the first half with Lady Rocket goalie Macibelle Hardesty making five first-half saves.
The tide of the match turned just seconds into the second half when Ella Geary, Crittenden’s leading scorer, collided with Trigg’s Addison Humphries going for possession of the ball near midfield. Both were shaken up on the play, with Humphries returning later to add a pair of goals.

Geary, sporting a shiner that would make Rocky Balboa proud, did not return. Her absence in the midfield was immediately noticeable as the Lady Wildcats scored two minutes later when Lydia Redd found Hite to put Trigg up 3-0.
Hite’s goal was the first of six Trigg goals in a 17-minute stretch that ended the match via the mercy rule. Hite would add another goal later in the half for her 56th of the season – tying her sister Lania’s single-season record set in 2023. She also finished with two assists.
Lydia Redd scored a pair of goals, including the game-ender with 19:48 left, as Trigg scored six goals on nine shots in the second half. Landie Hite added a pair of assists for the Lady Wildcats.
Crittenden County, the tournament hosts, worked throughout the day Tuesday to get the field playable after nearly three inches of rain fell earlier in the day. It was a soggy track that made through balls tough to play.

Trigg County (15-3-2) has won four straight district titles for the first time and denied Crittenden County (7-10-1) its first title in ten years.
Both the Lady Wildcats and Lady Rockets will move on to the region tournament in Hopkinsville, with dates and pairings to be announced in the coming days.
