This week’s Jersey Mike’s ‘Player of the Game’ for the week of October 6 is Fort Campbell High School’s Avaley Moore. Avaley was selected based on her efforts in the Lady Falcons 5-0 8th District tournament win over the Hopkinsville.
One of the impressive things about her performance is that until 1pm that afternoon, the Lady Falcons were not sure they were going to be allowed to play in the tournament due to the ongoing federal government shutout.
They were ultimately given permission to play and Avaley and her teammates made the most of the opportunity, taking a big win over Hopkinsville and advancing to the district championship match and the 2nd Region tournament.
Avaley was a force for her team in goal, finishing the night with 8 saves and coming up with a shutout. It was the first time the Lady Falcons had shutout the Lady Tigers since the 2000 3rd District tournament.
The Jersey Mike’s ‘Player of the Game’ is selected each week from one of the five schools in Christian County (Christian County, Hopkinsville, University Heights, Heritage Christian, and Fort Campbell) based on their performance in a big game or event for their team that week.
