The Christian County Lady Colonels began the 2025 volleyball season as one of those teams expected to contend for the 2nd Region championship. The Lady Colonels took one of the first big steps toward that goal Tuesday night, sweeping their way past the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons and clinching the top seed for next week’s 8th District volleyball tournament, which will be played at Christian County High School.
The win was the 37th straight for Christian County over Fort Campbell, a streak that goes all the way back to August 19, 2010.
The Lady Falcons entered the night riding a 7-match winning streak and with a chance to claim the top seed for the district tournament. But, the Lady Colonels would have none of that on this Senior Night 2025.

Behind the play of Olivia Voelkel and Ava Moore, the Lady Falcons got out to a quick 6-3 lead in the opening set. Christian County, getting a spark from Kate Cansler and Carly Armstrong, came battling back to score 7 straight points and take a 10-6 lead. Three of the points came on service aces from Cansler.
Fort Campbell closed to within 11-10 but then the Lady Colonels went on a 6 to 2 run to run their lead up to 17-12. With Kate Cansler leading the charge down the stretch, Christian County went on to take the opening set 25-17 to go up 1-0.
Fort Campbell again got on top early in the second set at 2-1. Christian County, again getting a spark from Cansler, went on a 6-1 spurt to take a 7-3 lead over the Lady Falcons.
After Fort Campbell trimmed the lead down to 7-5, the Lady Colonels delivered the knockout blow in the set. With big efforts from Cansler, Ashlea Russell, and Kiley Lambert, Christian County ripped off a 10-4 run that pushed the lead out to 17-9. The Lady Colonels finished the set strong to take the win 25-14 and go up two sets to none.

The Lady Colonels then ‘aced’ the test in the third set. With Peyton Owens at the serve, Christian County scored the first 8 points of the set, four of those points on service aces. Strong service runs from Kaidence Atwell and Ashlea Russell extended the lead out to 20-7.
Fort Campbell made a late charge but the hole was too deep as Christian County went on to take the set 25-17 and close out the match three sets to none.
Christian County (17-15) takes the #1 seed in the district with the win and will play the winner of the match between UHA and Hopkinsville, who play Monday night. The Lady Colonels will take on the winner in the first semifinal Tuesday night.
Fort Campbell (12-3) drops to the 3-seed and will play Heritage Christian in Tuesday night’s second semifinal match.
