The regular season wrapped up Saturday for the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers with a pair of matches against 3rd Region opponents. The Lady Blazers traveled to Owensboro to take on Apollo and Meade County in a tri-match.
The Lady Blazers dropped a three-set decision to Meade County. The Lady Green Wave took the opening set 25-20 and then got the second set 25-19 to go up two sets to none. Meade County then closed out the match by taking the third set 25-17.
Against Apollo, UHA made the E-Gals work, but Apollo was still able to take the three-set win. Apollo, the second-ranked team in the 3rd Region, according to the RPI, came out strong and took the first set 25-12.
The Lady Blazers pushed Apollo in the second set before the E-Gals picked up a 25-20 win. UHA had its best set of the day in the third set, but Apollo was able to hold on for a 26-24 win to complete the sweep.
The Lady Blazers finish the regular season at 11-21 and will open postseason play Monday night against the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers in the opening round of the 8th District tournament.
