
After seeing its three-year reign atop the 6th District end last year, Henderson County has roared back with the top seed in this week’s district tournament at Webster County.
The Lady Colonels were 15-0 against region teams this season – the only school to not lose a game against region competition.
Henderson County (24-9) and Webster County (20-5) are the only 20-win teams in the region. Henderson swept the season series, but the second match on Oct. 2 went five sets in a reverse sweep for the Lady Colonels.
Henderson County features strong net play with Sarah Loffland (294 kills), Kylee Lyons (248 kills), and Emerson Sword (220 kills) leading the way.
Kamryn Raley (471 assists) and Addison Kirtley (431 assists) run the Lady Colonel offense.
Ella Whitledge has 692 digs this season and 1,323 for her career.
Henderson County is in the 7:30 championship match ahead of Monday’s 5:30 semifinal between Webster County and defending district champion Union County.
The Lady Trojans only lost to Henderson County in region play and have won eight of nine entering the postseason.
Chloe Soukup has 360 kills this season and 1,031 for her career, while Kamryn Edens has 314 assists, and Ella Rakestraw has 251 this season.
Webster County is seeking its first district title since its first one in 2020.
After winning its first district championship last year and advancing to the region title match, Union County was 6-18 this season and 0-4 in district play.
Rosella Greenwell leads the Bravettes with 108 kills and 39 aces, while Claudia Wheatley has 245 assists.
The all-time series between the schools is even at 25-25.
