This week’s Jersey Mike’s ‘Player of the Game’ for the week of October 13 is University Heights Academy’s Cal Givens. Cal was selected based on his efforts in last week’s boys 2nd Region soccer tournament in Henderson.
Cal scored one of the two Blazer goals in the opening round 2-1 win over the Trigg County Wildcats. He repeated the feat again in the semifinals as the Blazers knocked off Madisonville-North Hopkins.
And then, for good measure, Cal again scored one of the two UHA goals in the regional championship match as the Blazers beat Henderson County 2-1 for the title. This one was even bigger as the goal came in the second ‘golden goal’ overtime and was the championship score.
The Jersey Mike’s ‘Player of the Game’ is selected each week from one of the five schools in Christian County (Christian County, Hopkinsville, University Heights, Heritage Christian, and Fort Campbell) based on their performance in a big game or event for their team that week.
