The Christian County volleyball program is not coming to an ned just yet, as they were able to beat the University Heights Lady Blazers in four sets to advance to the 8th District Volleyball Tournament Championship on Thursday.

The first set of the game was instantly intense, as both teams went back and forth and ended up being tied at 16 points apiece. That tie extended to 22 points apiece at a late timeout, and Christian County was able to score a couple to go up 24-22. But UHA was not going down without a fight, as they went on a streak of three points with Gretchen Durham serving to take the lead 25-24.

The two teams kept battling, and were tied at 26 points and 28 points, as neither team could quite finish it out just yet. But the Lady Blazers were finally able to end the set 30-28 when a hit by Christian County went out of bounds and have UHA the victory in the first set.

The second set was not as close, and saw the Lady Colonels holding the lead for the entire duration of the set. They had a five-point lead at 10-5, as well as 15-10, and that lead extended to 19-12 and forced a late timeout by UHA. Christian County was then able to close it out and end the set 25-17 with a kill from Ashlea Russell.

Set number three saw the Lady Colonels getting out to an early 9-0 lead with Peyton Owens serving, and they were able to keep and extend that lead to 23-13 at a late timeout. And after a UHA hit went out of bounds, the set ended with the Lady Colonels winning 25-14.

As for the fourth and final set, it was all Christian County. They went up 8-4 at the first timeout of the set, and the lead kept growing and growing until a kill from Kaidence Atwell and an ace from Owens ended it 25-8.

The Lady Colonels will move on to the 8th District Championship on Thursday, October 23, against the Heritage Christian Lady Warriors.
