Crittenden County ran its 5th District volleyball championship streak to eight on Tuesday as they defeated Livingston Central in straight sets.

The Lady Rockets won 25-23, 25-13, 25-21.

Livingston Central was coming off a five-set win in the semifinal earlier in the evening and carried that momentum over into the championship match as they overcame an 18-12 deficit to take a 23-22 lead.

Grayson Travis and Braelyn Merrill responded with consecutive kills, and a Lady Rocket ace completed the comeback.

Eight sets in three hours proved a little too much for Livingston Central as Crittenden used a 15-1 run in the second set to gain control and pick up the win.

Macandiss Chittenden gave the Lady Rockets three kills, and Lacey Boone had two of her seven kills in the set.

Crittenden County closed out the third set and the match thanks to a 14-4 run.

Merrill had four of her 10 kills in the set, and Travis finished the match with five kills.

Livingston Central got five kills and two aces from Abby Erickson and three kills from Jocelynn Morganson.

Crittenden County has won eight straight district titles – the longest active streak in the region.

Caldwell County won 14 straight district titles from 2007-2020, while Henderson County won 10 straight from 2010-2019.

Crittenden County has also won 44 consecutive district matches.

Both the Lady Rockets (8-14) and Lady Cardinals (6-15) will move into next week’s region tournament at Hopkins County Central.
