The Mayfield Cardinals used an explosive start Friday night to extend their winning streak over the Fort Campbell Falcons to nine games. The Cardinals lit up the scoreboard with 37 points in less than six minutes at the start of the game on their way to a 58-0 win over the Falcons in Mayfield.

The Cardinals would go on to lead 44-0 at the end of the opening quarter. At that point, both coaches agreed to play the final 3 quarters as 6 minute quarters with the running clock.

Mayfield scored a touchdown on the last play of the half and decided to kneel down on the extra point try to lead 50-0 at the half. The Cardinals scored a touchdown and their 2nd safety on the night in the second half to finish out the scoring for the game.

Outside of their 55-29 loss to Paducah Tilghman, the Cardinals have not given up more than 7 points in a game this season.

The Falcons were shorthanded going into the contest, playing without the services of Keshawn Dixon, JP Perryman, Tanner Walters and Levi Kruse.

Fort Campbell is now 3-6 for the season and will host Trigg County Thursday night. The winner of the game will secure the number 4 seed in the district and a first round playoff trip to Owensboro Catholic.
