Trigg County welcomed back several injured starters and kept its postseason hopes alive on Friday with a 48-6 win at Todd County Central.

The Wildcats will play at Fort Campbell on Thursday, with the winner receiving the district’s final playoff spot.

Trigg County welcomed back quarterback Caden Scott, who was knocked out of the Caldwell County loss on Sept. 19 with a shoulder injury. In his absence, Trigg managed just 70 passing yards in losses to Crittenden County and Mayfield.

The sophomore lefty nearly equaled that on his first two attempts of the game on a pair of strikes to Brody Renfroe. After a 35-yard hookup on the game’s first play, Renfroe, who missed last week’s game with an ankle injury, caught a 32-yard touchdown pass two plays later. He finished the game with three catches for 69 yards.

Trigg County scored touchdowns on all seven of its possessions.

Davaree Gude, who was knocked out of last week’s Mayfield loss in the first half and missed a couple of days of practice, had a 24-yard touchdown run with 6:52 left in the first quarter. It was the first of his five touchdown runs.

Scott connected with Deon Edison on a 13-yard screen pass with 3:53 left in the opening quarter. Lineman Thye White carried in the two-point conversion for a 22-0 Wildcat lead.

Gude scored Trigg’s final four touchdowns on runs of 53 and 35 in the first half and 63 and 56 yards in the second half. The senior back finished with 260 yards on eight carries and topped the 1,000-yard mark for the third time in his career. He also moved into fifth place on Trigg County’s all-time rushing list with 3,745 yards, passing Steven Wadlington (3,742).

Todd County Central advanced into Trigg County territory on three of its first four drives. Eli Morgan connected with ZiKavion Martin on a 60-yard slant play that took the football to the Trigg 20-yard line. Back-to-back Rebel penalties came ahead of a Renfroe interception that stalled the drive.

Todd again got into Trigg territory late in the half when a 34-yard pass play from Morgan to freshman DeVaughn Lister got the ball to the Wildcat 48-yard line. Todd drove to the 13-yard line, but the half ended with the Rebels failing to make the end zone.

Down 48-0, Todd County Central got on the board when four runs by Morgan picked up 44 yards to the 1-yard line. Lister scored his first varsity touchdown on a three-foot run with three minutes left.

Lister finished with 56 yards on eight carries, and Morgan added 71 yards on 16 carries as the Rebels totaled 139 rushing yards.

Morgan was 5 of 10 passing for 107 yards. Martin had two catches for 77 yards, and Jayden Carrington added three catches for 30 yards.

Trigg County totaled 383 yards on just 19 plays. Scott completed 8 of 11 passes for 126 yards.

Trigg improved to 23-15 all-time against Todd Central with its ninth win in 10 meetings.

Todd County Central (1-8, 0-5) will close out its season next week against Webster County in Elkton.

Trigg County (2-6, 1-3) snapped a six-game losing streak and will play for a playoff berth Thursday at Fort Campbell.
