Colonels Qualify Three Runners for State Cross Country Meet (w/PHOTOS)

Christian County High School will have three runners represent the school in the final state meet for the program following the team’s eighth-place finish at the Class 3A Region 1 meet Saturday at Logan County.

Sophomore Cayden Cline finished in 11th place, covering the 3.1-mile course in a time of 17:34.

A pair of eighth graders also had strong runs for the Colonels. Lucas Coats ran a personal best time of 18:17 to finish in 22nd place, and Bryce Hamlin also had a personal best time of 18:32 and finished in 24th place.

Those three will run in the Class 3A state meet Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington at 10 o’clock.

Others running for the Colonels on Saturday were Cash Taggart, who finished in 61st place in 23:19, Julio Cano, who was 63rd in 28:24, and John Pitts, who was 64th in 33:12.

The Colonels’ team score of 175 was three points behind 7th-place Graves County and 16 points behind 6th-place Owensboro.

Marshall County’s Kobey Yates won the race in 15:52, while Apollo took the team title.
