
The Dawson Springs Lady Panthers made it back-to-back region championships with a 15-point win over Fort Campbell at Saturday’s Class 1A Region 1 race at Logan County High School.
The Lady Panthers put five runners in the top ten to defeat runner-up Fort Campbell, 32-47.
Freshman Olivia Hines, last year’s runner-up, came in third place to lead the Lady Panthers with a time of 21:42 over the 3.1-mile course.
Dawson Springs put four consecutive runners across the line from seventh place to tenth place. Ashtyn Swatzell was seventh in 23:22, followed by Alieah Cook in eighth place at 23:53. Baylee Swatzell was ninth in 24:02, and Rhyan Parker was tenth in 24:02.
Alyssa Allison ran a 25:22 to finish in 16th place, and Briley Sawyer was 29th in a time of 33:30.
It was the fourth region title for the Lady Panthers in the past 10 years.
Dawson Springs will compete in the Class 1A state cross country meet on Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The girls’ race is scheduled to begin at 3:45.
