
Trigg County put five runners inside the top 20 and finished in third place at the Class 2A Region One cross country meet on Saturday at Logan County High School.
Lady Wildcats, as a result, qualify for the state meet in Lexington this weekend.
Sophomore Veyda Grinols was the first Lady Wildcat across the finish line in ninth place with a time of 21:52. Freshman Sofia Quinteros came in tenth place with a time of 22:10.
Seventh grader Daija White proved to be the big surprise on the day for the Lady Wildcats with a 12th-place finish in 23:08.
Sophomore Luci Quinteros came in 14th place in 23:09, and 7th grader Daizi Quinteros was 19th in 23:37.
Trigg’s first six runners all ran personal best times on the Logan County course.
Junior Allayah Hargrove finished in 25th place in 24:30, and Ella Dollison was 34th with a time of 27:05.
Trigg County finished with 61 points, which was seven points behind second-place Webster County and 15 points behind region champion Calloway County.
Webster County’s Mayci Moore won the race with a time of 19:19 over the 3.1-mile course.
