Rockets Run to Fourth at Region, Qualify for State Meet (w/PHOTOS)

With three runners in the top 10, the Crittenden County cross country team finished in fourth place at Saturday’s Class 1A Region 1 meet and qualified for next week’s state meet.

River Rogers was the first Rocket to cross the finish line with a time of 19:08. C.J. Nelson was 16th in 19:48, and he was followed closely by Noah Martinez, who was 18th in 19:59.

Gaige Markham came in 28th place in 20:38, while Landon Starkey was 41st in 23:03.

Aiden Musser finished in 49th place in 24:18, and 8th grader Miles Yates was 50th in 24:27.

Easton Bourland of Dawson Springs won the race, covering the 3.1-mile course at Logan County High School in 16:49.

As a team, Crittenden County totaled 106 points to finish 18 points behind third-place Dawson Springs. University Heights Academy edged Fort Campbell 50 to 53 to win the school’s first region title.

The boys’ Class 1A State Cross Country meet is scheduled for three o’clock Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
