The postseason accolades continue to roll in for University Heights Academy defender Clayton Lester, who on Tuesday was named Second Team All-State by the Kentucky High School Soccer Coaches Association.
Lester was a key defender for the Blazers whose defense allowed 1.3 goals and three shots on goal per game. UHA rode that defense to an 18-7 record and the school’s first region title in 14 years.
“Clayton has been a rock on and off the field for us for three years. He’s been a team captain since his sophomore season, and is the kind of kid who makes a coach’s job so much easier,” said UHA coach Josh Nichols. “He graduates as one of the most decorated players in Blazer soccer history.”
In addition to the All-State honor, Lester has been named All-Region three times and has been voted Region Defensive Player of the Year twice.
All-State teams are divided geographically, comprising regions 1-8 and 9-16. Lester was named Second Team for the West Region. Henderson County’s Alex Bowley was also named Second Team All-State.
