Madisonville-North Hopkins running back Markezz Hightower entered the 2025 football season climbing the statistical ladder into some very elite company. And that climb has continued through the regular season.
Unofficially, after Friday night’s regular-season finale, Hightower has now rushed for 5,329 yards in his high school career. Depending on how his leg recovers from a first-half injury Thursday night at Warren Central, Hightower has a real shot at going past 5,500 yards, especially if the Maroons can knock off Greenwood next Friday night.
He has also continued to find the end zone at a rapid clip. Hightower has now rushed for 25 touchdowns in ten games for Madisonville. Those scores give him 71 rushing touchdowns for his career.
Based on the KHSAA records, which have not been updated since 2021 (and that is a whole other story), Hightower would be in 40th place on the all-time rushing list, right behind Andrew McCloud, of Mercer County, who finished with 5,341.
