After missing the state cross country meet as a junior due to injury, Katie Gillette was able to finish her fall running career on her own terms on Saturday.
The Madisonville-North Hopkins senior finished in 192nd place at the Kentucky Beef Council KHSAA Class 3A State Meet on Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
Gillette covered the 3.1-mile course in 22:58. It was her second-fastest time of the season.
It was the fourth state meet appearance for Gillette, who finished in 171st place as an eighth grader.
Her best run came as a freshman when she finished 81st in 21:01. She followed that with an 88th-place finish in 21:27 as a sophomore. However, she missed her entire junior season with a leg injury that also kept her out of the first month of the season.
Woodford County’s Addison Moore won the state 3A race in 17:38.
