Addison Feldhaus, left, is now a creative content director for the UK men's basketball team. She was at Rupp Arena in 2013 with her parents and sisters after her father led Madison Central to the state title.

Addison Feldhaus is the creative content director for University of Kentucky men’s basketball coach Mark Pope but she will be wearing neutral colors when the UK women open the season Nov. 3 hosting Morehead where her older sister, Ashton, will be making her Division I head coaching debut.

Addison was the ball girl for her father, successful Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus Jr., in 2006 when Madison Central upset Scott County to win the 11th Region title to advance to the state tournament. She was in Rupp Arena cheering in 2013 not only when the Madison Central boys won the state title but her sister Ashton also played in the girls state tourney.

“She grew up in the locker room with boys. She cheered but she was in heaven around the basketball team,” Allen Feldhaus said. “She loves her job at UK. She does graphic design for the team, organizes all recruiting visit photo shoots. She absolutely loves it.”

Before that Addison had a paid internship with the Tampa Bay Bucs. Next she was hired by Nike/Fanatics as one of their three NFL designers.

“Then she decided she didn’t want to live in Florida any longer because of the hot weather,” her father said. “She went to work for Stache Cups as a designer. Then a job came open at UK and she applied.”

The first opening was with UK football but she did not get the job. Fortunately, a similar job opened with UK basketball.

“She had a pretty good resume and you would think maybe the Feldhaus name might have helped a little bit but when she interviewed she did not mention that her grandfather (Allen Sr.) and uncle (Deron) played basketball there,” Allen Feldhaus said.

Her father said UK associate coach Mark Fox told him he was impressed she did not mention her family connections to Kentucky basketball.

“Her biggest thing is with recruits. When recruits are on campus, she sets up everything with the photo shoots that the players all really like,” Allen Feldhaus said. “She does a lot of game day graphics and sends graphics to recruits. They throw new stuff at her every day and she loves it

“For her, this is a dream job. She goes to every practice. Recently the players found out about her birthday, bought a cake and sang to her. She just loves being part of Kentucky basketball. It’s just in her blood.”
