
Led by a top-five finish from Easton Bourland, the Dawson Springs Panthers came in 16th place at the Kentucky Beef Council Class 1A State Cross Country meet in Lexington.
Bourland passed three runners in the final mile to finish in fourth place in 16:31. His time was 19 seconds faster than last year’s state meet run, which saw him come in ninth place.
Noah Riley broke the 18-minute barrier for the first time, covering the 3.1-mile course at the Kentucky Horse Park in 17:49 to finish in 30th place.
Preston Drennan came in 162nd place in 20:30 while Levi Holt was 180th in 20:47.
Lucas Duke finished in 195th place in 21:12, and Henry Clark was 235th in 22:37.
Louisville Collegiate’s James Gurley won the race with a time of 15:51.
As a team, Dawson Springs finished in 16th place, 44 points behind 15th-place Somerset.
