Hensley Leads HCA Runners at State Meet (w/PHOTOS)

Competing as a team for the first time at the KHSAA State Cross Country Meet, the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors came in 31st place at Saturday’s Kentucky Beef Council Class 1A State Championship in Lexington.

Aaron Hensley was the first Warrior to cross the finish line in 59th place with a new personal best time of 18:43 over the rolling 3.1-mile course at the Kentucky Horse Park. The sophomore knocked nearly a minute off last year’s state meet run when he finished in 116th place.

Cadyn Travis came in 129th place with a time of 20:05.

Running in just his second-ever cross country meet, Kallan Davis was 198th with a time of 21:15, which was 14 seconds faster than his time at the region meet.

John Spurling, also running in his second-ever cross country meet, crossed the line in 214th place in 21:44.

Jerry Spurling was a third Warrior runner in his second-ever meet and came in 253rd place in 24:18, just edging teammate Ryan Goforth, who was 254th.

Kollin Stokes was 264th in a time of 28:19.

Heritage Christian finished 78 points ahead of 32nd-place Murray.
