Lady Panthers Take 14th at State Cross Country Meet (w/PHOTOS)

The Dawson Springs Lady Panthers finished in 14th place at the Kentucky Beef Council Class 1A State Cross Country Meet on Saturday in Lexington.

Olivia Hines led the Lady Panthers across the finish line at a time of 2202 over the 3.1-mile course at the Kentucky Horse Park. It was the second top-40 finish for Hines at the state meet, as the freshman finished 29th last year.

Sophomore twins Ashtyn and Baylee Swatzell were next in 94th and 96th place, respectively. Ashtyn completed her run in 24:05 while Baylee ran a 24:08. The sisters were making their fourth state meet run.

Alieah Cook came in 110th place in 24:36, and Rhyan Parker was 117th in 24:43. Alyssa Allison rounded out the day for Dawson Springs with a 155th-place finish in 26:01.

Beechwood’s Lily Parke repeated as Class 1A state champ as she ran an 18:55 to win by 16 seconds.

As a team, Dawson Springs finished in 14th place with 375 points, three behind 13th-place Somerset and 11 behind 12th-place Fort Campbell.
