
The Trigg County Lady Wildcats Cross Country team finished in 16th place at Saturday’s Kentucky Beef Council Class 2A State Cross Country meet in Lexington.
The Lady Wildcats finished 14 points out of 15th place and put three runners in the top 75.
Sophomore Veyda Grinols completed her first season on the course with a 50th-place finish in a time of 22:04 over the 3.1-mile course at the Kentucky Horse Park.
It was the first top-50 finish at state for a Trigg girls runner since Livi Ricks finished 45th in 2016.
The three Quinteros sisters also had a big day for Trigg County.
Freshman Sophia was 65th in a time of 22:37, while sophomore Luci was 73rd in a personal best time of 22:47, and seventh grader Daizi was 136th in 25:04.
Allayah Hargrove was 143rd in 25:18, and Ella Dollison was 162nd in 26:09.
Thomas Nelson’s Baili Hoten won the race in a time of 18:32.
