
University Heights Academy followed its first-ever region championship with a 12th-place finish at the Kentucky Beef Council Class 1A State Cross Country Meet on Saturday in Lexington.
Graham Conrad came in 37th place in a time of 18:10 over the rolling 3.1-mile course at the Kentucky Horse Park. He led for the first half mile of the race and finished just 25 seconds off his region runner-up time from last week.
Junior Jude Finch made his fifth appearance at the state meet and had his best result. He came in 57th place in 18:42, knocking 30 seconds off his time from last year when he placed 83rd.
Ronan Croney-Sallie finished in 71st place in 19:04, and Zech Davis came in 114th place in 19:50.
Eighth grader Scar Venable finished in 138th place in 20:08, missing a personal best time by 13 seconds.
Garret Bowling ran a 21:14 to finish in 196th place, and Hayden Hayes finished in 206th place in 21:29.
James Hurley of Louisville Collegiate won the race in a time of 15:51.
UHA finished one point ahead of 13th-place Fort Campbell and 15 points behind 11th-place Highlands Latin. The Blazers missed a top 10 finish by 27 points.
