Wildcats Run to 18th Place Finish at State Cross Country Meet (w/PHOTOS)

The Trigg County Cross Country team finished in 18th place at Saturday’s Kentucky Beef Council Class 2A state cross country meet in Lexington.

Sophomore Dominic Skinner led the Wildcats at the Kentucky Horse Park course with a time of 18:32, good for a 70th-place finish. He missed a personal best time by 19 seconds.

Dekon Perry finished in 87th place as he covered the 3.1-mile course in a time of 18:57, marking the first time the sophomore has broken the sub-19-minute barrier.

Grady Oliphant continued his strong finish to the season, finishing 121st in a time of 19:31 – 10 seconds off his personal best set at last week’s region meet.

7th grader Zane Marshall was 136th in 19:47, and Brody Renfroe, running with nagging injuries suffered in recent weeks, came in 163rd place in 20:09.

Grant Gallogly was 178th in 20:26, and Max Disney finished 190th with a time of 20:46.

Covington Catholic’s Joe Mayer won the race in 15:44.

Trigg County finished four points out of 17th place and 39 points out of a top 15 finish.
