
For the second year in a row, the Hopkins County Central Storm is loading up the bus in the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs and heading to Munfordville. And they hope the trip is a better experience this time around.
Last season, in the first-ever meeting between the two programs, the Raiders overpowered the Storm, running their way to a 57-0 win in the opening-round game. That Hart County team piled up 447 yards on the ground with four players rushing for at least 80 yards in the game
Hart County comes into the postseason at 8-2. The Raiders opened the season with a loss to Logan County and then won four straight. A loss to Glasgow was then followed by a four-game winning streak to close out the regular season.
The Storm will see a potent ground attack again this year from Hart County. The Raiders are averaging more than 300 rushing yards per game and just over 100 passing yards per contest.
Kannan Allen leads Hart County with 1276 rushing yards. Jake Crump is second on the Raiders with 734 yards. \
The Raider defense is giving up 19.9 points per game and has 10 interceptions for the season.
Hopkins County Central comes into the playoffs at 2-8 with the wins coming off Todd County Central and Webster County.
The Storm’s top offensive weapon is quarterback Sylas Gunn, who has rushed for 864 yards and passed for 785 yards, Gunn’s top targets in the passing game have been Isac Earl (269 yards) and Kaijain Hayes (230 yards), who have 13 catches each.
Kickoff is set for 7pm Friday night in Munfordville.
