Fort Campbell snapped a four-game losing streak last week with a 47-32 come-from-behind win over Trigg County.

The Falcons fell behind 13-0 in the game’s first three minutes, but scored touchdowns on their next four drives to take a lead they would not relinquish. Keyshawn Dixon ran for 144 yards and a touchdown, and he made 19 tackles on defense.

Antonio Rivera, who had minus one yard rushing coming into the contest, ran for 100 yards and one score. Quarterback Tannar Walters completed nine passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Owensboro Catholic is 9-1. Their lone loss came to Owensboro on September 12th. They haven’t allowed more than one score in four of their last five games.

The Aces are led by quarterback Dremail Carothers, who has thrown for 2,600 yards and 33 touchdowns this year.

Xavier Maddox is one of three Owensboro Catholic receivers with over 500 receiving yards. He has 51 catches for 915 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Owensboro Catholic has been the state runner-up the past two years, losing to Mayfield by five points two years ago and to Beechwood by 16 in last year’s state championship.

The Aces have won 15 straight first-round games dating back to a 2009 loss to Trigg County. The teams have met eight times in the postseason, with each team winning four.

The last meeting was in 2022 and ended in a 54-8 Owensboro Catholic win. Fort Campbell’s last win came in 2008 when they knocked off the Aces 48-35 on their way to their second of three straight state championships.

Fort Campbell is making its 39th playoff appearance. They’re 51-32 all-time in the postseason, but they haven’t won a playoff game in 12 years. That came in 2013 against Edmondson County.

They look to snap an eight-game postseason losing streak tonight at Steele Stadium.
