University Heights Academy’s cheer squad is made up of mostly multi-sport athletes, some of whom recently finished a fall season. While that may limit their time on the practice mat, you never would have known watching them compete at the Region 1 Cheer Competition at McCracken County on Saturday.
UHA finished in third place in the Game Day Small Division and earned a spot at next month’s state cheerleading competition in Winchester. It was the first time UHA competed at region since the KHSAA sanctioned cheer in 2013.
Tori Flick is a senior and one of the few “cheerleader only” squad members. She talked about the team exceeding expectations and knocking out a near-flawless routine at region in this YSE interview.
