Ajae Oatts can probably be best described as an athletic ninja.
The University Heights Academy senior competes in four sports throughout the season and has a chance to appear at the state level in all four this school year.
Ajae isn’t the most vocal person on the soccer field or on the track for UHA. However, she does need to be vocal as part of the school’s cheer squad and makes her presence known despite her calm demeanor.
She earned All-District and All-Region honors with the Lady Blazer soccer team, which won a region championship for the first time since 2008 and advanced to the first round of the state tournament.
As a defender and captain, she was often the last line of defense in front of the opponent’s goal and helped UHA hold 19 of its 23 opponents to one goal or fewer.
Ajae made the jump from soccer to cheer, where UHA brought home a third-place finish in the Game Day Small Division of the Region 1 cheer competition. For the first time since the KHSAA sanctioned cheer in 2013, UHA will compete at the state level.

She also competes for the UHA track and field team, where she has earned top-10 finishes at the state level in Class 1A in both the indoor and outdoor seasons.
As a senior, Ajae is working to reach the medal stand in a pair of events after a couple of near misses last year.
Just in the past week, Ajae competed at the region cheer competition on Saturday and finished second in the Voice of Democracy speech contest held by the VFW Post 1913 on Veterans Day.
You can listen to her speech here.
Ajae discussed her multisport season in this YSE interview ahead of the region soccer tournament.
Parker Eye Care sponsors the YSE Spotlight Athlete and features an athlete who excels in one or more sports.
