Kentucky was a three-touchdown favorite over Tennessee Tech but the 42-10 win still set the stage for Kentucky’s next two games at Vanderbilt and then at Louisville.

“It leaves us with confidence. I mean we still got a lot to do, and we all know that. It just gives us a lot of confidence going into next week,” junior safety Ty Bryant said after the win.

Senior Seth McGowan, UK’s leading rusher this season, said the team is keeping the three-game win streak in perspective that has improved UK’s record to 5-5.

“Not as crazy, off the wires as you would think because this team, we’ve always known our potential. We’ve always known our identity and how powerful this team is and it’s all just everything that’s happening now is something that we’ve known since our camp,” McGowan said. “We just got to stay consistent and keep at it.”

Redshirt freshman quarterback Cutter Boley has been extremely efficient during UK’s win streak and has uplifted not only the team but the entire fan base.

“We got a real heartbeat right now, and the guys are juiced up and excited. But I think in everybody’s minds, this is where we should have been anyway,” Boley said after the Tennessee Tech win. “This is where we pictured ourselves being. Maybe not like this exact scenario, but week after week, everybody just stayed high-spirited.

“We knew every week we just needed to get a win and go 1-0. These guys have done a great job of that.”

Kentucky has gone 1-0 against Auburn, Florida and Tennessee Tech. Now it has to do it at No. 13 Vanderbilt. The Commodores are 8-2, still in contention for a playoff berth and a 9 1/2 point favorite over UK. Vanderbilt has a Heisman Trophy candidate in quarterback Diego Pavia.

Boley said the team absolutely talks about earning a bowl big and that has been a goal since preseason.

“That’s something that’s all in our minds, but our ultimate goal is to go 1-0 and take the next opponent. Going into next week, we just have to treat it like every other week and try to go 1-0 — not think of the future, not think of the past,” Boley said.

  1. We need one more win for a bowl bid and then one more win in that game for a winning season. It's time for Stoops to earn that $9 million salary.

  2. Boley has set the fan base on fire
We want to win. If our defense comes ready to play we will get the W. We are way better on paper is what kills me. Look at our recruiting classes over the last 2-3 years and look at theres. The reason they are good is because they have the best QB in college football and I don't think it's close. With the players he has around him thats what makes him great. He don't have the line and playmakers like Georgia or Alabama or any other SEC team. They get the worst classes and players but they have a Great coach and a Great QB. That's the juice that team needs. Pavia will play with a sprang ankle bruised and beat up more than 90% of college football players and he's never on the Injury list. Never.. he's tough as nails. I love the way he plays he's fun to watch. He will put his life on the line for a first down. They are going to score touchdowns we are just going to have to match them if we don't we will lose. If we score points and the defense plays solid we can win.
