Maddyn Greenway is not only a five-star guard who will be joining Kentucky coach Kenny Brooks’ team next year but she’s also an elite all-around athlete.
The 5-foot-8 guard from Wayzata, Minnesota, is a top 10 player nationally who joins five-star forward Savvy Swords and four-star guard Emily McDonald in UK’s recruiting class that has been ranked as high as fourth nationally.
“I am very excited to welcome Maddyn to Big Blue Nation. Maddyn will be a tremendous addition to our program. Her competitive drive combined with her innate ability to shoot the basketball will make her ready to compete for us immediately. I can’t wait for her to be in the blue and white,” Brooks said in a UK news release.
Greenway has already led Providence Academy to state championships from 2022 through 2025 after the team finished as runner-up in 2021 (the team was 32-0 last season). She should become Minnesota’s all-time leading career scorer this season based on her scoring prowess and one of few high school players to score over 5,000 points.
Greenway averaged 32.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 4.9 steals per game last season when she scored 1,050 points and also had 232 rebounds, 280 assists and 160 steals. She was named Minnesota Gatorade Player of the Year as well as Minnesota Star Tribune Player of the Year and Minnesota MaxPreps Player of the Year.
“I am beyond excited for the amazing opportunity to play at Kentucky. It is an honor to be recruited and trusted by this coaching staff and I am excited to get on campus and prepare to have a great freshman year,” Greenway said via the UK release.
Greenway played for Team USA last summer and won a gold medal at the FIBA U19 World Cup in Czech Republic.
Greenway has been a four-time all-state pick in soccer and during her senior season became the Minnesota career goals leader (218) and the all-time Minnesota single-season goals leader (62) in a single season. Greenway was named Minnesota Miss Soccer in 2025 after helping the Lions to back-to-back state titles in 2024 and 2025.
She’s also a multiple state track champion.
