Addison Woodall knew at an early age that she wanted to play softball in college, and the Todd County Central senior made that dream a reality on Wednesday when she signed her letter to play at Maryville College in southeastern Tennessee.
In praising Addison, who has played for the Lady Rebels since her seventh-grade year, he explained to the younger players at the ceremony why she was on stage, taking the next step in her athletic and academic journey.
“If you look at her work ethic, younger players, and if you work at it as much as she’s had since I’ve seen her playing ball, you’re going to accomplish your goals, and that’s what Addison has done today,” Coach Casey Williams said. “I think the time she has spent on making herself better, on being a better ballplayer, a better person, and a better leader, all goes back to this opportunity she is getting today.”
Williams also had one other piece of advice for Addison.
“You need to make sure you thank your parents for the times they’ve gone all over the United States. The times they spent on making you a better ball player. It’s time that they have spent away from their families.”
With a large group of friends and family coming out to see her sign her letter to continue playing softball, it was advice Addison has already taken to heart.
“God really has blessed me with just the best support system in all of you. You all have just played a significant role in getting me to where I am today. I wouldn’t be who I am without you guys,” she told the crowd.
Williams praised his senior’s versatility, who can play any infield position and pitch.
Addison is a career .353 hitter with 66 RBI and 41 extra-base hits over a five-year career that began as a seventh-grader. She hit .512 as a junior with 16 RBI and 10 extra base hits despite missing half of the season with an injury.
She hit .396 as a freshman with 36 hits and 28 RBI. Addison has proven to be a tough out on the bases with a perfect 39-for-39 in career stolen bases.
In the circle, she has an 11-12 record with 122 strikeouts in 113 innings pitched.
Maryville is an NCAA Division III school that competes in the Collegiate Conference of the South. The Scots were 23-20 in 2025 and advanced to the semifinals of the CCS Tournament.
