University of Kentucky women’s basketball junior center Clara Strack has been named a U.S. Basketball Writers Association Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week and the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week.

It is her second USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week honor, while it is her first SEC Player of the Week award, in her college career.

The Wildcat played a critical role in two straight wins over P4 teams this week, helping Kentucky tie program records and snap longstanding streaks in both triumphs over Purdue and at No. 21/19 Louisville.

The junior is coming off her fifth straight double-double – but her sixth in seven games this season – after 17 points and 13 rebounds in the dominating win over Purdue followed by 17 and 10 in the in-state rivalry win at No. 21/19 Louisville.

She remains the nation’s lone leader with her six double-doubles on the season, and in the process, she also is first in the league and fourth in the nation in rebounds per game (12.1). Also following five blocks against the Boilermakers and two blocks against the Cardinals, she is second in the league and sixth in the nation in blocks per game (3.14).

She is the only UK player, since at least 2002-03, to have six double-doubles within the first seven games of a season. She joined Evelyn Akhator as the only two UK players, since at least 2002-03, to have five double-doubles within the first six games of a season.

Strack’s combined 34 points last week came off 53.8 percent shooting. The 6-5 center also knocked down a 3 in both games last week, while the skilled post has knocked down at least one 3 in five of seven games this season.

Moreover, both of her steals at UofL contributed to UK buckets on the other end.

The versatile player also dished out multiple assists in each game last week, too. Since the start of last season, she has handed out multiple assists in 26 of her 38 games, including five of seven in 2025-26.

Thanks to the 19-year-old’s continued success to begin the season, she is one of two DI women’s basketball players in the nation (also UConn’s Sarah Strong) to have at least 575 points, 375 rebounds, 75 assists, 75 blocks and 25 steals since the start of 2024-25.

Strack, who leads the team on 16.9 points per game, 12.1 rebounds per game and 3.1 blocks per game, and Kentucky will take on No. 7/6 Maryland today and Morgan State on Friday in the Discover Puerto Rico Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
