Keshawn Dixon is the rare Fort Campbell athlete who played his entire high school career as a Falcon.
While the military lifestyle can be transient for some due to parents being transferred as part of the US armed services, Keshawn has made Fort Campbell his home, and the result has been standout careers in both football and wrestling.
Keshawn shattered the school record for career tackles with 290 solo stops and 300 assists. The former record, according to Fort Campbell statistician Donny Caver, was 407 tackles by Josh McWorter and Josh McKillip.
On offense, Keshawn ran for 3.679 yards and 35 touchdowns and added another 797 receiving yards and four scores.
Keshawn’s hard work both on and off the field has stood out to his coach, Henry Mitchell.
“He started for us as a freshman on both sides of the ball. He is a young man who has never given me any issues on the field, in the classroom, or in the community. He’s someone underclassmen should look up to,” said Mitchell.
Keshawn also wrestles for the Falcon program and looks to return to the state tournament, where he wrestled two seasons ago.
Coming up between the end of football season and wrestling will be a trip to Texas next month to play in the Military Appreciation Bowl. He was one of several dozen players selected to participate in the game, as well as a week of festivities that include a skills combine and other events at the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas, the headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys.

The bowl game will be played on December 21.
Keshawn is the first Fort Campbell player to play in the game since Mr Football Micah Johnson in 2006.
“Keshawn is a shining example of what hard work through dedication and sacrifice can achieve at this point,” said Col. Joshua Porter, 101st Division Sustainment Brigade commander.
Parker Eye Care sponsors the YSE Spotlight Athlete and features an athlete who excels in one or more sports.
