After having love showered on him by former players, fans, and even media members after he was fired, Kentucky coach Mark Stoops made his first comments Tuesday.
He was fired Sunday after 13 seasons at Kentucky. His last two teams finished 4-8 and 5-7. Kentucky also lost to Louisville 41-0 in its final game on Saturday.

Stoops used X to post this message on Tuesday:
“To all of my former players, coaches, staffers, and the Big Blue Nation, from the bottom of my heart, thank you,” Stoops wrote. “Coaching at Kentucky the last 13 years has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
“I’ve felt your support, your pride, and your love every single day. Kentucky has become my home, and I’ll be forever grateful to have been your head coach.”

I appreciate Stoops raising the ceiling for Kentucky football. When he first started he started out bringing in recruits that weren't picking between Kentucky Marshall and Akron. He brought guys who had the big boys on there list and Marrow got them to pick to Kentucky. When Marrow left it was a sign that the Stoops era was over. Not because he was the reason we were successful. It was a team of staff members and Stoops who made this possible. Stoops problem is that every offensive coordinator he found always found somewhere else to call home. Coen would have taken us to the top. It's sad he was here twice in 3 years and only stayed one year. This is also what got Stoops canned. How about Drew Barker. He was always the what if for me. He would have been the best QB in the Stoops era. Then he had a weird spinal or neck injury. Every QB that Stoops got was like a second choice. Terry Wilson led us to a 10 win season. Then the next year Levis took over. Levis was a better QB but with the offensive line we had it didn't matter if we had Tom Brady. Another thing Stoops hired friends and family towards the end of his tenure. That also was a bad choice. I appreciate what Stoops did but he was the victim of his own demise. He did it to himself. Then he started caring to late. All year he had no emotion then we win a couple of games against teams who were drowning, and all of a sudden he cared. Where was that emotion vs South Carolina? Or vs Georgia? It wasn't there. He did this to himself. Should have never hired Bush Hamden it was a terrible hire. He couldbt even get it done at Boise State what made him think he could do it at Kentucky in the SEC. Thank Stoops for everything you did but good riddance. We are tired of losing. Feed the Studs!!
Good Luck Coach! Thanks for taking the Cats to heights never seen before. Enjoy sipping bourbon and smoking cigars.
