Christian County Falls to Apollo in Final Season Opener

The Christian County Colonels basketball team just started their final season, and they did so on the road against Apollo. Their last year might not have began like they would have wanted it to, as they lost to the Eagles 64-46.

Apollo went 16-12 last season and finished seventh in Region 3, which is no slouch by any means, so the Colonels do not need to hang their head with this loss.

Their first quarter started out very solid, scoring 16 points. Six of those came from Rahsean Stevenson, and six more came from a pair of three-pointers from Tom Johnson and Darren Bigbee.

But it was the second quarter where the Colonels started to get themselves into trouble, as they scored just seven points. One point from a Jay Henderson free throw, and six from a pair of threes from Johnson and Zion Acree.

They scored a solid 15 points in the third quarter, but they went right back to it and scored just eight in the final quarter of the game, eventually losing 64-46.

Stevenson led the Colonels in scoring with 15 over the course of the game, and Henderson also contributed nine of his own.

Christian County will be looking to bounce back in their next game on Friday against Kenwood at home. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
