Lady Maroons Fall to McLean Despite Macy Wright’s Big Night

The Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons opened their season on Thursday night on the road against McLean County. Despite some solid performances, they fell to the Lady Cougars with a score of 85-61.

The Lady Maroons were able to score 17 in the first quarter, but they were met with a McLean offense that was absolutely on fire. They hit six three-pointers in the period on their way to 30 points in just the first eight minutes of the game.

However, Madisonville was able to grab a tiny bit of ground and take the second quarter 14-13 with 10 points from Macy Wright. This put the Lady Maroons down 43-31 at the halftime break.

Both teams came out swinging in the third quarter with a handful of threes each and some high scoring. But it was the Lady Cougars that were able to take the quarter with a margin of just one.

As for the fourth quarter, McLean was able to double the Lady Maroons’ score of nine by scoring 18 in the final period. After just a few more threes dropped, the Lady Cougars came out on top 85-61.

Wright led the Lady Maroons in scoring with a very impressive 30 points, and JaMia Harris was also able to put up 16 of her own points.

Madisonville will be looking for their first win of the new season in their next game on Friday against the Lady Tigers of Hopkinsville. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School.
